Eco-Explorers Wetland Field Trips

Eco-explorers

Eco-Explorers field trip programs take place on the scenic Delaware Bay marshlands of the Woodland Beach Wildlife Area. Providing a real-world extension to the 5th grade Ecosystems curriculum, classes from all over the state trek to the Aquatic Resources Education Center (Wetland Education) each spring and fall for hands-on discovery of the wonders and workings of the salt marsh. During the three-hour trip, groups of 10 or fewer students are guided by AREC staff and volunteers through a series of six “Eco-Stations,” performing hands-on activities, exploring plants and animals of the marsh, and collecting data they will use to compile a field trip report about their experience upon their return to the classroom.
