Inland Bays Restoration Work Group

Cypress Swamp thanks to Chris Bason

The Inland Bays and their 800 square-kilometer watershed is an exceptional resource. Rare species and natural communities, working lands, and resort communities are integrated across the watershed which influence the quality of life of the citizens from Millsboro, Delaware east to where the Bays enter into the Atlantic Ocean. To maintain the character and quality of the Inland Bays and the lands that encompass its watershed, a network of natural high quality lands are needed to provide habitat for plants and animals and to provide essential ecosystem services such as clean air and water and flood and storm protection.

The Inland Bays Restoration Plan is being developed by a multi-disciplinary team to identify priority areas for restoration and protection in the watershed. The work group established the goal to focus restoration and protection activities to improve and maintain the ecological integrity of species and habitats and the functions and services that they provide.

This page provides current information on the group's progress, meeting notes, and presentations.
