Since Delaware has not yet been able to meet air quality standards for Ozone, the State is required under the Clean Air Act to submit a comprehensive, accurate, current inventory of actual emissions of ozone precursors from all sources every three years, starting in 1993. Ozone precursors, or air pollutants that form ozone, are volatile organic compounds (VOCs), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), and carbon monoxide (CO). Facilities, referred to as point sources, emitting these and other pollutants are required to submit their emissions annually under Air Regulation No. 1117, Section 7.
Annual emission estimations from point sources are reported through a web-based application called SLEIS (State and Local Emissions Inventory System). The application allows facility users to submit annual emission estimations online. DAQ is currently using SLEIS v1.2, which can be accessed here. Visit the SLEIS home page for helpful links, including a SLEIS User Guide and SLEIS User Registration Forms.
