More Sightings of More Species in Delaware
The results aren’t official, but this weekend’s Great Backyard Bird Count was a big hit in Delaware. More Delawareans counted more species of backyard birds than ever – Snow Geese, Canada Geese, Red-winged blackbirds, a Cooper’s hawk, nuthatches, titmice, chickadees, cardinals, sparrows, blue jays, and many, many more.
Incomplete tallies showed there were 247,276 sightings of 123 bird species in the First State, almost six times more than the number of sightings last year of 13 more species.
Final results are due March 1st. Visit www.birdsource.org/gbbc to get the latest results.
