DNREC – Surface Water Discharges
AMENDED PERMIT APPLICATION AND PUBLIC HEARING
This notice serves to announce that the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Surface Water Discharges Section (DNREC-SWDS) has received an amended permit application for the storage of sludge generated at the Mountaire Farms of Delaware, Inc. (Mountaire) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The Mountaire WWTP is located approximately two miles northeast of the town of Millsboro, Delaware. This public notice supersedes the October 18, 2017 public notice. All comments submitted to the October 18, 2017 public notice do not have to be re-submitted and will be considered as part of the review of the amended permit application. Mountaire submitted the amended permit application to allow sludge storage from maintenance activities at the WWTP in order to improve its treatment process.
DNREC-SWDS will conduct a public hearing to provide the public an opportunity to comment on the amended permit application. Only comments directly related to the proposed sludge storage activities will be accepted during the public hearing.
Persons who want to speak at the public hearing should register with the presiding hearing officer no later than January 22, 2018 by email to Robert.Haynes@state.de.us

This notice re-opens the public comment period for written comments, which the presiding hearing officer should receive before the conclusion of the public hearing.
Notice is hereby given that there will be a public hearing on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 beginning at 6 PM at the Millsboro Town Hall/Town Center, located at 322 Wilson Hwy, Millsboro, Delaware 19966.
