AMENDED FINAL PLAN OF REMEDIAL ACTION FOR THE
Former ICI Americas Inc. Atlas point Site
Operable Unit 1: Soil and Sediment
Operable Unit 2: Groundwater
The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the Former ICI Americas Site located at 315 Cherry Lane in New Castle. The approximately 177-acre Site is the historical location of the Former ICI Americas Atlas Point facility and operated as a manufacturing plant since 1936. A wide range of chemically–based products have been produced and various locations on the Site have served as waste disposal locations. Various parcels have undergone several changes in ownership and use through the years. Numerous remedial actions have occurred on this site but remaining contamination requires limitations of use, restrictions on disturbing specific location, as well as a combination of active groundwater remediation and monitored attenuation of groundwater contamination.
DNREC issued public notice of the Amended Proposed Plan for the Former ICI Americas Site on August 12, 2018. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Amended Proposed Plan. Details of the Amended Proposed Plan are available at the office of DNREC-SIRS (391 Lukens Drive, New Castle, DE, 19720) or online at: http://www.nav.dnrec.delaware.gov/DEN3/
