‘Liar’ Bil Lepp Returns
to Delaware
DOVER, Del. – As an author, storyteller and five-time champion of the West Virginia Liars Contest, Bil Lepp has been weaving hilarious tall tales for 15 years. He has toured the country and will appear in Delaware at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 18 at Killens Pond State Park in Felton; at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at Trap Pond State Park in Laurel; and then finishes up his Delaware tour at 7 p.m. on July 19 at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes.
Lepp made his Delaware debut in December 2007, when he regaled audiences with his colorful, expertly woven and absolutely side-splitting tales. According to Ray Bivens, Delaware State Parks Chief of Environmental Education, “Delawareans owe it to themselves to spend an hour or so listening to and seeing Bil. His stories appeal everyone, and they are just downright funny, too.”
Lepp has been a featured storyteller at the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival, The National Storytelling Festival in Tennessee and storytelling events from California to Pennsylvania. He has conducted storytelling workshops at the University of Richmond and the Washington Storyteller’s Theater in Washington, D.C.
His writing credits include titles such as The Armadillo Recon Unit and audio compilations such as Mayhem Dressed as an Eight Point Buck and Buck Meets the Monster Stick, co-authored with his brother, Paul. Lepp describes his work as mostly humorous and, he claims, mostly true. Lepp promises to brighten the mood and bring a smile to even the least amused person at any gathering.
Fellow storyteller Barbara McBride Smith describes Lepp as “the Wonder Bra of storytelling. He takes something small and insignificant and pushes it up into something really BIG and mighty interesting!”
