Advisory Council on Shellfisheries to Meet May 18 in Dover
The Advisory Council on Shellfisheries will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, May 18 in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control auditorium, Richardson and Robbins Building, 89 Kings Highway, Dover.
The agenda will include the following items:
- Oyster licenses and potential legislation to address the issue of no ceilings on licenses issued.
- Inappropriate use by commercial shellfish harvesters of Division launch ramps. (Ramps may be used to launch and retrieve vessels, but commercial vessels should not remain docked at the ramps for unloading catches if in so doing they block recreational boater access.)
- Brief discussion on the need for trip-based reporting rather than monthly reporting for blue crab landings.
- Consideration of a possible new regulation allowing a tolerance for undersized conchs in commercial landings.
