Alapocas Run State Park Celebrates Summer Fun and Education at Blue Ball Barn Event
WILMINGTON, Del. – The public is invited to the Blue Ball Barn from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 to learn about summer recreational and educational opportunities for children. This unique event brings together organizations and programs from Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Parents might be surprised to learn that summer activities can include ice skating, exploring, sports and adventure camps, learning to speak different languages, cooking fun, zoo trips, arts and crafts, travel and tours.
The Brandywine Zoo’s Traveling Zoo will make a stop, and participants can join in a nature activity with the staff from White Clay Creek State Park, and much more. A hands-on activity for parents and children is scheduled every half-hour throughout the day.
Parents will learn how to pick a summer camp for their child, learn about family friendly activities to do in any park or open space, and perhaps learn some fascinating facts about the area.
The Blue Ball Barn is located within Alapocas Run State Park, the newest of the state parks with features such as athletic fields, multi-use trails and the Delaware Folk Art Collection. The park is located just off of Route 202 (Concord Pike) in Wilmington and is easily accessible from I-95 and other major roadways. More information is available by calling the park office at 302-577-7020 or visiting www.destateparks.com.
The Summer Fun and Education Fair is sponsored by Delaware State Parks, Summer at Tower Hill and Alapocas Run State Park.
