Auburn Heights Easter Egg Hunt April 23
YORKLYN (April 6, 2011) - The Marshall Steam Museum will host its first-ever Easter Egg Hunt at Auburn Heights Preserve on Saturday, April 23, from noon to 3 p.m.
The Easter Egg Hunt will kick off at 1 p.m. and is designed for children ages 10 and under. There will be three separate designated areas: for children ages 4 and under, ages 5 to 7, and ages 8 to 10. More than 1,000 brightly colored plastic eggs containing treats and prizes will be hidden on the lawn surrounding the Auburn Heights mansion. Visitors can also enjoy rides on the Auburn Valley Railroad and free popcorn from a steam-powered popper. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
In addition to the hunt and train rides, visitors can tour the Marshall Steam Museum, featuring the world’s largest operating collection of Stanley Steamers; view the interactive exhibit, “Under the Hood: How a Stanley Steamer Works”; enjoy a 1930s Lionel electric train display; watch a video spotlighting Tom Marshall and the extraordinary collection of antique autos; and see the orientation exhibition, “From Farmers to Industrialists: The Marshall Family Legacy.”
Auburn Heights Preserve, operated by the Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve in partnership with Delaware State Parks, is located at 3000 Creek Rd. (Rte 82) inYorklyn. Admission is $7 for ages 13 and up and $5 for ages 2 to 12. Children under 2 are admitted free.
