Bellevue State Park Celebrates the Arts
with Live Performances for MayFair
 

WILMINGTON, Del. – The staff at Bellevue State Park has announced an exciting line-up for the second annual MayFair, A Celebration of the Arts, on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17.  The two days of live music, song and dance will have something that appeals to all festival goers at the park’s outdoor band shell.  

The Brandywine Center for Dance kicks off the festival at 11 a.m. on Saturday with a dance showcase featuring audience interaction. Other performers will be on hand to entertain visitors through 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon to 5:15 p.m. on Sunday. The full schedule is:

Saturday, May 16
11 – 11:30 a.m. – Brandywine Center for Dance (dance showcase with audience interaction)
Noon – 1 p.m. – The JazzChords of Calloway (jazz, swing, rock, pop, bossa nova and ballads)
1:30 – 2 p.m. – CACC Folk Dance Troupe (Children’s Chinese Folk Dance)
2:30 – 3:30 p.m. – The Pleasure (Original and Popular Alternative Rock)
4:30 – 5:30 p.m. – AbleArts (Delaware’s Premier Disabled Theater Company)

Sunday, May 17
Noon – 12:30 p.m. – The Movement Workshop (teen and adult tap, karate demonstration)
12:45 – 1:15 p.m. – Chapel Street Players (Relative Strangers by Sheri Wilner, produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.)
1:30 – 2:15 p.m. – Harokdim (teenage Israeli dance troupe)
2:45 – 3:45 p.m. – The Music School of Delaware (cello choir and Washington Street Grove Jazz Combo)
4:15 – 5:15 p.m. – Wilmington School of Rock (teens performing classic rock)

All performances are free of charge with paid admission to the park.

While at the park, visitors will also want to explore the Delaware By Hand Artisans’ Exhibit in the Figure 8 Barn, as well as the Young Artists’ Studio, featuring hands-on children’s activities.  Also scheduled for the weekend are rides in the Auburn Heights Steam Cars, a juried arts and crafts show, a catered luncheon on Saturday, a Sunday brunch, and unique works of art for sale.  All events and festivities will be held rain or shine.
