Brandywine Creek State Park announces final program in the
Revolutionary War History Series: The Battle of Cooch’s Bridge

American history buffs and anyone interested in Delaware’s past will want to attend the fourth and final program in Brandywine Creek State Park’s Revolutionary War History Program Series on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Brandywine Creek Nature Center.  Wade Catts, noted Revolutionary War historian, will explain how the Battle of Cooch’s Bridge came to be the only Revolutionary War battle fought on Delaware soil.

The Battle of Cooch’s Bridge was a short battle between England’s Crown Forces and American Light Infantry Corps. This illustrated lecture presents new information from recent archaeological studies and places the battle’s outcome in the broader context of the Philadelphia Campaign.

The program is part of Brandywine Creek’s Revolutionary War History Series leading up to the Philadelphia Campaign of 1777 reenactment on Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park.

The program fee is $5 per person and the maximum registration is 60 people. Advance registration is strongly encouraged. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. Each registrant will be entered in a drawing for a free two-day pass to the reenactment in Sept.

Brandywine Creek State Park is located three miles north of Wilmington at the intersection of Delaware Routes 100 and 92. The entrance is on Adams Dam Road. The Nature Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.  More information about the park and its programs is available at 302-655-5740 or www.destateparks.com/bcsp/bcsp.asp.
