Brandywine Creek State Park presents history of salt
American history buffs and those interested in Delaware’s past will want to attend the third program in Brandywine Creek State Park’s Revolutionary War History Series on Saturday, July 31 at 7 p.m. Susan McLellan Plaisted, the owner of Heart to Hearth Cookery, will be on hand at the Brandywine Creek State Park Nature Center offering demonstrations and classes in 17th- through 19th-century cooking methods, practices and recipes. This presentation details the fascinating history of salt with reproduction artifacts and samples of different salts.
The program fee is $5 per person and the maximum registration is 60 people. Advance registration is strongly encouraged. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available.
The program is part of Brandywine Creek’s Revolutionary War History Series leading up to the Philadelphia Campaign of 1777 reenactment on Friday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park. Each person who registers for the July 31 program will be entered in a drawing for a free two-day pass to the reenactment in Sept.
Brandywine Creek State Park is located three miles north of Wilmington at the intersection of Delaware Routes 100 and 92. The entrance is on Adams Dam Road.
