Cape Henlopen State Parks Presents History “U” Can Touch
LEWES, Del. – The staff at Cape Henlopen State Park invites the public to take a step back to the days of World War II and a submarine war off the Mid-Atlantic coast. On Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1400 (2 p.m.), the park presents U-Boat Winter at the Seaside Nature Center. A Fort Miles historian will be on hand to talk about the impact of German U-boats, the role of U.S. mine fields, and the submarine war that took place off our shores during the winter of 1942.
Participants will use GPS units to uncover remnants of the harbor defenses of Fort Miles, and join in an outdoor scavenger hunt to find missing pieces of the submarine war and make connections with the winter of 1942.
This is a perfect opportunity for visitors to experience the hands-on history of Fort Miles in Cape Henlopen State Park. The program fee is $2 per person and pre-registration is required.
More information and registrations are available by calling 302-645-6852.
