Chesapeake Chapter of Safari Club International provides
generous donation to DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife
DOVER (Aug. 24, 2012) – The Chesapeake Chapter of Safari Club International (SCI) recently awarded a $1,000 grant to the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife, which will use the grant for its wood duck nest box program.
“Our Division maintains hundreds of wood duck nesting boxes on our wildlife areas, said Ken Reynolds, Wildlife Program Manager with the Division. “These funds will be used for boxes to be placed in new locations or to replace boxes that may have been lost or damaged.”
Harry Daisey, Chairman of the Chesapeake Chapter Conservation Committee made the check presentation. “The chapter is proud to work in partnership with the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife on this very important conservation project. The chapter continues the work of Safari Club International on a local level in conservation and hunter’s rights,” Daisey said.
The wood duck box program, which began in 1937, has become one of the most practical, appealing and successful wildlife management practices in North America. Nest boxes provided by the Chesapeake Chapter’s grant should be in place for Delaware’s 2013 and 2014 nesting seasons.
