Closure at Scotton Landing Fishing Pier to continue
through Nov. 20 for re-decking project
DOVER (Nov. 12, 2015) – Due to weather and tide conditions, temporary closure of the Scotton Landing Fishing Pier on Barkers Landing Road near Dover has been extended through Friday, Nov. 20 to complete the pier’s re-decking project, DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today.
The project involves removing and replacing the existing wooden deck and handrails. Owned and maintained by the Division of Fish & Wildlife, the fishing pier was originally built in 1986 and has become a popular fishing and crabbing attraction with local residents and visitors to the tidal St. Jones River along the southbound side of Route 1.
The project is expected to be complete, with full access restored, by Saturday, Nov. 21, weather permitting. Access to the parking lot and boat ramp at Scotton Landing will be unaffected.
