Construction continues at Collins Beach boat ramp
Facility to remain partially open through Aug. 6, followed by two-day closure

DOVER (Aug. 1, 2013) – The DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife announced today that the construction schedule at the Collins Beach Boat Ramp near Smyrna has been extended to accommodate a phased construction schedule to prevent having to close the entire ramp for an extended period.

Plans call for the ramp to remain open with limited access until construction is complete, with the exception of two days next week. The ramp and upper parking lot will remain open on Tuesday, Aug. 6, when the lower parking lot is scheduled to close in preparation for paving. Weather-permitting, full closure of the facility, including the boat ramps, is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 7 and Thursday, Aug. 8 during final paving and striping, to ensure that the fresh asphalt has time to set.

Boaters who regularly use the Collins Beach ramp for access to the upper Delaware Bay and Delaware River may opt to use the Woodland Beach Boat Ramp, located on Woodland Beach Road in Woodland Beach, or the Augustine Boat Ramp on Route 9 in Port Penn.

For more information, please call the Fisheries Section at 302-739-9914.
