DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife to host Jan. 22 workshop
on certification program for nuisance wildlife control operators

DOVER (Jan. 16, 2013) – The Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife will host a public workshop outlining DNREC’s proposed certification program for Delaware’s nuisance wildlife control operators at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22 in the Richardson and Robbins Building auditorium, 89 Kings Highway, Dover.

The workshop will introduce the certification program and testing requirements for individuals and businesses conducting nuisance wildlife control work in Delaware. Discussion will include why the new program is being offered, how the permitting process will work, and a preview of content to be covered in the training.

All current nuisance wildlife control operators or anyone planning on becoming one are encouraged to attend this meeting. The workshop is being held in advance of a regulatory hearing to review the proposed new regulation, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 in DNREC’s Dover auditorium.

“Delawareans expect the professionals who help them resolve their nuisance wildlife problems to be properly trained and to conduct their work in a safe, efficient, and ethical manner,” said DNREC Deer and Furbearer Biologist Joe Rogerson. “We think this new program will help ensure that nuisance wildlife control activities conducted in our state will meet these expectations.”

For more information on this public meeting or the proposed training program, please call the Wildlife Section at 302-739-9912.
