DNREC extends comment period on Green Recovery
Technologies’ Coastal Zone permit application
DOVER (Oct. 29, 2014) – In response to numerous requests from community associations, environmental advocates and members of the public at the Green Recovery Technologies’ Coastal Zone permit hearing held Oct. 22, DNREC has extended the public comment period on the company’s permit application for two weeks. The public hearing record was originally scheduled to close Oct. 31, 2014. However, due to the volume of requests, DNREC Public Hearing Officer Lisa Vest announced that the record would remain open through Friday, Nov. 14, to allow more time for all groups and individuals involved to submit further comments.
DNREC received a Coastal Zone permit application on Aug. 28, 2014 from Green Recovery Technologies, LLC, to construct and operate a facility in the Riveredge Industrial Park, New Castle, to separate proteins and lipids from poultry processing wastewater “sludge” for use in the pet food industry. The company’s application, hearing transcript and presentation for the proposed project are available for inspection at http://www.dnrec.delaware.gov/Admin/CZA/Pages/default.aspx.
Anyone wishing to submit public comment for DNREC Secretary David Small’s consideration regarding Green Recovery Technologies’ application for a Coastal Zone permit may email their comments to Hearing Officer Lisa Vest at firstname.lastname@example.org, fax to 302-739-1174, or send by regular mail to Ms. Vest’s attention at 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901, now through the close of business Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. Comments must be submitted in written form for inclusion in the formal hearing record.
