DNREC extends public comment period through Dec. 7 on proposed
amendments to Regulations Governing Beach Protection and Use of Beaches

DOVER (Nov. 19, 2015) – DNREC’s Division of Watershed Stewardship’s Shoreline & Waterway Management Section has extended the public comment period for proposed amendments to the Regulations Governing Beach Protection and the Use of Beaches, as set forth in 7 DE Admin. Code 5102.

The public comment period was to have ended Sunday, Nov. 22, but has been extended through close of business Monday, Dec. 7, in response to requests from the public for additional time to offer comment. Comments may be emailed to Lisa Vest or submitted via U.S. mail to: Lisa Vest, Hearing Officer, DNREC, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

The purpose of this proposed regulatory action is to incorporate recent legislative changes to Delaware’s existing Beach Preservation Act (7 Del.C., Chapter 68). Additionally, DNREC seeks to incorporate Division of Watershed Stewardship policies and construction standards into Delaware’s aforementioned existing beach regulations, which will result in less damage to structures while offering additional protection for the state’s dune and beach resources.
