DNREC to hold public workshops March 27 and 28
on proposed amendments for Boiler Safety Program
DOVER (Feb. 29, 2012) – DNREC’s Tank Management Section will hold two public information workshops March 27 and 28 on proposed amendments to Administrative Code 1353, Delaware’s Regulations For Boilers, Pressure Vessels, and Nuclear Installations. The amendments aim to update regulations which reflect the current organizational structure of the state’s Boiler Safety Program while maintaining regulations consistent with national codes and standards.
Changes in the proposed amendments reflect:
That the Boiler Safety Program is no longer a Division within DNREC, but rather a program within DNREC’s Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances and operating under the Tank Management Section;
Eliminating the position of Director of Boiler Safety;
New and modified definitions that were included in the recently passed Boiler Safety Statute, 7 Delaware Code Chapter 74B;
Exemptions relating to high-pressure air cylinders maintained by volunteer fire companies, and
New requirements for facilities that operate their own boiler and pressure vessel inspection programs.
