DNREC Secretary Issues Coastal Zone Act Permit
for Oceanport LLC of Claymont
Under the authority of the Coastal Zone Act and the Regulations Governing Delaware’s Coastal Zone, Secretary Collin O’Mara of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has issued a Coastal Zone Act Permit to Oceanport LLC, a privately owned and operated deepwater marine terminal located on the Delaware River in Claymont.
The permit allows the company to mix lime with water that will produce a calcium hydroxide solution at their facility located at 6200 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont. DNREC's review of the application has concluded that no negative environmental impacts will result from this process.
An application to appeal this decision must be filed with the State Coastal Zone Industrial Board before June 11, 2009. An application fee of $100 is required. To obtain an appeal form, contact Gail Henderson at 302-739-9909. If an appeal is not filed before June 11, the decision becomes final.
