DNREC Secretary issues Coastal Zone Act Permit to
Grantham Lane Associates LLC
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary Collin O’Mara has issued a Coastal Zone Act Permit to Grantham Lane Associates LLC to install a debris crusher at their facility in New Castle, which will allow the company to recycle construction debris into useful products.
Grantham Lane Associates LLC, a subsidiary of Cirillo Bros. Inc., is located at 761 Grantham Lane, New Castle. The company performs construction work that includes the demolition and excavation of existing structures and roadways.
The expected environmental impacts from the crusher operation include an increase in particulate matter emitted into the air of 0.07 tons per year. The company’s proposed offset plan includes: obtaining two tons of emissions credits from the Delaware Economic Development Office; converting a heating plant from fuel oil to propane at one of the buildings onsite; providing a one-time financial contribution of $2500 for a hot water heater replacement at a local school district; planting 200 native species trees onsite; and removing a solid waste stream from Delaware’s solid waste management system that will help extend the life of existing landfills.
