DNREC Secretary issues Order authorizing Wetlands Permit and Water Quality Certification for maintenance work on state regulated wetlands in Kitts Hummock to help reduce flooding
Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary Collin O’Mara has issued a Secretary’s Order authorizing that a Wetland Permit and Water Quality Certification be issued to DNREC’s Division of Soil and Water Conservation to maintenance dredge an existing drainage ditch on state regulated wetlands in Kitts Hummock that will help reduce flooding in the area.
The Secretary’s Order authorizes DNREC’s Wetlands and Subaqueous Lands Section to mechanically excavate 100 cubic yards of accumulated sediment from an existing drainage ditch and to side cast the materials over 106,000 square feet of state regulated wetlands in Kitts Hummock.
In addition, the Order authorizes the installation of stone rip-rap, not to exceed 40 cubic yards, to stabilize an existing tide gate along the west side of South Bay Drive.
