DNREC Seeks Public Input on TA Instruments’ Coastal Zone Act Application to Move Business

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has received an application from TA Instruments – Waters LLC to relocate their existing operation from 109 Lukens Drive to a new building built on Parcel 32, Lukens Drive in the Riveredge Industrial Park in New Castle.

TA Instruments is seeking a Coastal Zone Act Permit to continue manufacturing 125 rheological and 600 thermal instruments per year in their new building. A public hearing on the application will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the DNREC office building at 391 Lukens Drive, New Castle.

The proposed operation would generate 30 gallons per year of spent isopropyl alcohol from cleaning parts in the manufacturing process, as well as regular office trash and cardboard waste. The company’s offset proposal includes a plan to recycle the isopropyl alcohol using a licensed and reputable recycler of hazardous waste and also to recycle the waste cardboard and spent light bulbs off site.

The TA Instruments application is presently on public display at the DNREC offices at 715 Grantham Lane, south of New Castle, and 89 Kings Highway in Dover. The application is also on display at the Hockessin, Wilmington and Delaware City public libraries.

Public comments may be made at the public hearing or submitted in writing prior to the hearing. Written comments may be sent to Elena Tkacz, Resource Planner, Office of the Secretary, Richardson & Robbins Building, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901 or emailed to elena.tkacz@state.de.us.

For more information, contact Elena Tkacz at 302-739-9909.
