Universal Recycling grants and low interest loans
DOVER (Jan. 19, 2011) – The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) recently held two public information workshops to provide guidance on the Universal Recycling Grant and Low Interest Loan application process. The Frequently Asked Questions relating to those workshops are now posted on the DNREC website at http://www.dnrec.delaware.gov/whs/awm/Pages/RecyclingGrants.aspx, along with the Universal Recycling Grant and Low Interest Loan application and guidance.
DNREC is accepting applications for the Universal Recycling Grant and Low Interest Loan Program through 4:30 p.m. on January 24, 2011.
The Universal Recycling Grant and Low Interest Loan Program aims to reduce the amount of municipal solid waste generated and disposed of in Delaware and contribute towards achieving the state’s goal of recycling 75 percent of solid waste generated. This will help to conserve resources, save energy, extend the life of the landfills, create jobs, reduce green house gas emissions, and promote sustainability.
During this initial application cycle, priority will be given to startup costs for single-family, single-stream recyclables collection and bar/restaurant recycling initiatives that must be in place no later than September 15, 2011.
Eligible applicants are anyone engaged in the business of collecting, transporting, processing, or marketing recyclables. Applicants are encouraged to establish cooperative partnerships with other entities engaged in recycling activities, including private industry.
DNREC staff are available to provide technical and administrative assistance for the Universal Recycling Grant and Low Interest Loan applications. For more information email Bill Miller at bill.miller@state.de.us or Jim Short at james.short@state.de.us, or by phone: 302-739-9403.
