DNREC requests public’s assistance in locating burglary suspect
DOVER – DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation Enforcement Section is asking the public for assistance in locating a suspect wanted for several burglaries from vehicles in White Clay Creek State Park.
Virgil I. McDowell, 47, is alleged to have broken into or entered victims’ vehicles, stealing their wallets or purses and fraudulently using their credit cards. McDowell is 6 feet two inches tall, 175 pounds and travels in a dark blue or black mid-size four-door sedan. He is known to frequent the greater Newark area from State Road to Elkton, Md.
McDowell is wanted for numerous charges, including theft (felony), forgery, unlawful use of a credit card and receiving stolen property.
McDowell has outstanding warrants with the Camden Police Department, the Dover Police Department, Delaware State Police Troop 3, University of Delaware Police Department, DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation Enforcement Section and various courts in Kent and New Castle counties.
