Delaware State Parks Kicks Off 2012 Adventure Race Series   

DOVER (May 21, 2012) – The 2012 Delaware State Parks Adventure Race Series begins with Clash with the Creek on June 16 at Brandywine Creek State Park in Wilmington  The 2012 series includes three additional races: Baldcypress Challenge at Trap Pond State Park, The Millpond Challenge at Lums Pond State Park and Bring It On at Bellevue at Bellevue State Park.  

The races are designed with the average athlete in mind and are either individual or team events. Certificates are awarded in multiple categories, and each participant will receive a commemorative race giveaway. The entry fee is $30 per participant, per race; $50 for two races; $70 for three races; and $90 per participant for the entire series. Fees are payable in advance.  Payment may be made on the day of the race by cash or check only.

Clash with the Creek
June 16
(Team Event)
Mountain Bike, River Canoe, Orienteering
Race starts with mountain biking the forested trails of Brandywine Creek State Park, and paddling a beautiful stretch of Brandywine Creek. Contestants will use a map and compass to complete the orienteering portion of the race. Limited to 100 participants. Canoes, compasses and maps are provided.
Race begins at 9 a.m.
Pre-race meeting begins at 8:30 a.m.

 Baldcypress Challenge
July 14
(Team or Individual Event)
Road Bike, Trail Run, Flat-Water Kayak
Athletes will bike on roads and run along trails through the park that lead to beautiful Trap Pond. Navigation skills come in handy as teams finish the race in a kayak. This event is limited to 80 participants.
Kayaks are provided; bikes are not.
Race begins at 9 a.m. Pre-race meeting at 8:30 a.m.

 Millpond Challenge
August 4
(Team or Individual Event)
Mountain Bike, Trail Run, Flat-Water Kayak
This race will start with a mountain bike excursion around the pond.  Participants will explore the forest scenery with a trail run, and then grab a paddle and hit the water in a kayak to complete the race. Race is limited to 120 participants. Kayaks provided. Bikes are not.

Bring It On at Bellevue
September 8
(Team Event)
Road Bike, Trail Run, Team Challenges
This race features biking and running on paved and unpaved trails, team challenges, water features, crawls and much more. Participants should dress to get wet and dirty. This team event is limited to 80 participants. Bikes are not provided.
Race begins at 9 a.m.
Pre-race meeting at 8:30 a.m.
