Delaware State Parks announces changes
in lifeguard hours for Labor Day weekend 2013
DOVER (Aug. 22, 2013) – Changes in the hours and locations where swimming beaches in Delaware State Parks are guarded have been announced by DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation. Beginning Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware Seashore State Park’s Indian River South Inlet Day Area and Fenwick Island State Park will be guarded 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, guarded swimming areas will be reduced and limited in size.
Delaware Seashore State Park’s Tower Road swimming beach will be unguarded Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, but will be guarded Saturday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 2 (Labor Day).
Over the busy Labor Day holiday weekend, lifeguard hours will resume their regular schedule, from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. from Saturday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 2 (Labor Day).
Reductions in hours were necessary as a result of lifeguards leaving the area for college and school sports camps.
