Delaware State Parks and Crabby Dick’s Team Up
for a Night of Haunts and Hunters to Benefit Fort Delaware
DELAWARE CITY, Del. – Delaware State Parks and Crabby Dick’s Restaurant invite the public to a special ghostly event from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 to watch SciFi Channel’s The Ghost Hunters mid-season finale in the restaurant.
The episode was filmed in Fort Delaware State Park on Pea Patch Island and airs at 9 p.m. Crabby Dick’s, located at the end of Clinton Street in Delaware City, is donating a portion of their receipts from food sales to Fort Delaware.
Fort Delaware has long been considered one of the most haunted sites in Delaware. Countless stories of apparitions, unusual sensations, sounds and other paranormal activity, as well as the Fort’s history, have added to the ghost legend. During the Civil War, Fort Delaware was a prison for Confederate POWs, and a small community of soldiers and civilians sprang up on remote Pea Patch Island. During the war, more than 2,400 people died on the island.
The very popular Ghost Tours, hosted by Fort Delaware staff, have entertained thousands of visitors, many of whom come away with scary stories. Delaware State Parks and Crabby Dick’s encourage anyone with a Fort Delaware “experience” to join them for the screening and share their stories. Delaware State Parks will have a videographer on hand to record these spooky tales. Also on hand for the evening will be park staff who were on the island and were interviewed during the taping of the episode, and will be describing their experiences.
In order to ensure a seat in the restaurant or on the deck, reservations are strongly suggested, and can be made by calling Crabby Dick’s at (302) 832-5100, or visiting www.crabby-dicks.com.
