Delaware State Parks hosts Second Annual White Clay Creek Fest on May 1
NEWARK - Delaware State Parks, in partnership with the White Clay Wild and Scenic Program, United Water and other local organizations, announces the second White Clay Creek Fest scheduled for Saturday, May 1 from noon until 4 p.m. Live music will be provided by the Dukes of Destiny Band and Atiba on steel drum. Crafts, food from Tony’s Pizza, live animals, children’s music and more will be available at this free program. The rain date is Sunday, May 2.
The White Clay Creek Fest is designed to introduce the public to the park and the staff and volunteers whose work saved the White Clay Valley from being dammed. The White Clay and its tributaries were designated “Wild and Scenic” by federal legislation in 2000 and became part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. The White Clay Creek Fest celebrates the 10th anniversary of that designation. Additional information about the White Clay Wild and Scenic Program is available at www.whiteclay.org.
White Clay Creek State Park provides a welcome break from the surrounding development of New Castle County. The park's lush greenery and sparkling streams offer a refreshing change of pace and countless opportunities for outdoor fun and relaxation. Park entrance fees are in effect from March 1 through Nov. 30. Park annual passes provide a convenient way to enjoy Delaware State Parks throughout the season. More information is available by calling the Chambers House Nature Center at 302-368-6560, the White Clay Creek Park Office at 302-368-6900, or by visiting www.destateparks.com.
