One-eighth mile stretch of Dune Road to close temporarily starting May 12
CAPE HENLOPEN (April 24, 2014) – Beginning May 12, a short stretch of Dune Road, which provides access to Herring Point from the ocean, will be closed for approximately one week. The closure of the approximately 1/8th of a mile stretch of Dune Road will enable construction work to be completed on the Gordons Pond Trail, and the associated parking lot, scheduled to open in June.
The closure includes the beach crossing on Dune Road, meaning starting May 12, park goers will not be able to access Herring Point from either the ocean or via Dune Road.
Some of the improvements to Dune Road will include paving and striping, as well as completion of work on the new parking area at Herring Point.
Dune Road is scheduled to reopen on May 19.
