Families Are Invited to Fort Delaware’s Victorian KidsFest
DELAWARE CITY - On Sunday, June 14, Fort Delaware’s Victorian KidsFest, co-sponsored by the Fort Delaware Society, features day-long activities including games from the Victorian era, a vintage baseball game, special kid-friendly programs, craft activities and exhibits.
Visitors will return to school with Miss Gibble, school teacher on the island in 1864, enlist in the army, examine some real artifacts from the fort, or make a flag craft. Included in the day is an exhibition game of the vintage Diamond State Base Ball Club, which will play the rest of its home games at nearby Fort DuPont State Park. These games are played by baseball rules of the 1860s in which no foul ball is dead.
Fort Delaware is accessed via ferry from the dock on Clinton Street in Delaware City. Reservations may be made by calling 877-987-2757 or visiting www.destateparks.com. For more information about Fort Delaware’s schedule and group tour opportunities, call 302-834-7941.
