First State Heritage Park Debuts New Interactive Children’s Program, Washington’s Rules of Civility

DOVER, Del. – George Washington would not have approved of scratching, sniffing, or nose blowing at dinner. Participants in this interactive program at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9 will learn why, when The First State Heritage Park at Dover presents a new children’s program – Washington’s Rules of Civility.

A fun and interactive role-playing game will introduce children to the 18th-century do’s and don’ts of etiquette that George Washington followed while learning to behave properly in polite society. Children will find these rules funny, and in some cases downright silly.

This free program will be held at Rose Cottage, 102 S. State Street, Dover. More information is available at 302-739-9194.

The First State Heritage Park at Dover is a partnership of state agencies, under the leadership of Delaware State Parks, working in collaboration with city and county government, nonprofit organizations and the private sector to create Delaware’s first urban “park without boundaries” linking historic and cultural sites in the city that has been the seat of state government since 1777.
