First State Heritage Park presents final Presbyterian
Cemetery Lantern Tour of the season Sept. 17
DOVER (Aug. 8, 2010) - The First State Heritage Park at Dover will offer a Lantern Tour of the historic Presbyterian Cemetery Tour Friday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. This is the last chance this season to experience this popular tour which is presented in cooperation with The Presbyterian Church of Dover.
The tour was re-designed this year to feature visits from several of the notables buried in this 18th-century churchyard. The half-dozen characters that visitors will encounter include Delaware’s Revolutionary War hero Colonel John Haslet, who died a hero’s death at the Battle of Princeton in 1777, and two 18th-century widows with decided opinions.
Heritage Park Project Director Elaine Brenchley said: “We had a very positive response when we introduced this new version of the tour in July. People really enjoyed the special experience the living history characters add.”
The tour begins at the Johnson Victrola Museum Parking Lot, 375 S. New Street in Dover. Admission is $5. Tour space is limited. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 302-739-9194. More information about this and other First State Heritage Park programs is available at www.destateparks.com/heritagepark.
