Fish and Wildlife Agents Make Arrests for Theft, Trespassing, Hunting Violations

            Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Agents made three separate arrests on charges including theft, trespassing and hunting violations this week.

  • On Nov. 20, agents responding to a report of a trespasser illegally hunting on property owned by Wilmington University in New Castle arrested Jon P. Champagne, age 35, of 2403 West Parris Drive, Wilmington. He was charged with trespassing to hunt, possession of unlawfully taken game and failing to tag a deer. New Castle County police assisted in the arrest. Champagne was issued a court summons.
  • On Nov. 22, agents responding to a report of trespassing in the area of Old State Road in Ellendale caught a man with two Superior Court warrants out for his arrest. Kevin Payne, age 42, of 22870 Nightingale Road, Lincoln, was taken into custody and transported to Justice of the Peace Court No. 3 in Georgetown and then transferred to the Sussex Community Corrections Center.
  • On Nov. 22, agents investigating a report of a stolen deer stand in the Milford area arrested Larry Sines, age 18, of 22962 Argos Corner, Milford, and charged him with theft under $1,000 and third degree criminal trespass. Sines was taken to Justice of the Peace Court No. 3 in Georgetown and released, with his case pending in the Court of Common Pleas.

            To report illegal hunting activity, citizens may call 302-739-4580.
