Fort Delaware Season Extended
DELAWARE CITY (Sept. 16, 2014) – Fort Delaware State Park invites visitors who missed a trip to the Civil War-era fort this summer to a weekend of programs on Sept. 27 and 28. Among the numerous activities available, visitors will enjoy behind-the-scenes tours and hands-on-blacksmithing programs. A special family campout is scheduled for Sept. 27; details are available at 302-834-7941. Programs will also be offered on Saturday, Oct. 4 and will feature a period wedding at 1 p.m.
Fort Delaware will be open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sept. 27 and 28, and from 10 a.m.– 5 p.m. on Oct. 4. Access to Pea Patch Island and Fort Delaware is by ferry from the dock on Clinton Street in Delaware City. Ferry reservations may be made up to 24 hours in advance by calling 1-877-987-2757, or by visiting destateparks.com.
