Fort Delaware State Park Closed Tomorrow Due to Expected Storm
DELAWARE CITY, Del. – Due to the tropical storm warning with heavy rain and high winds expected, Fort Delaware State Park will be closed to tours tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 6. Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to arrive in Delaware tomorrow, with forecasters this afternoon predicting that coastal areas may face 40 to 50 mph winds.
The ferry Delafort, which carries passengers from Delaware City out to the Fort on Pea Patch Island, as well as to Fort Mott in New Jersey, is unable to operate safely in winds greater than 25 mph.
Also, the Appetite for Apparitions tour program scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening has bee rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20. The program is by reservation only.
Fort Delaware’s current regular hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends through Sept. 28. More information is available at www.destateparks.com, or by calling the park at 302-834-7941.
