Free Summer Concert Series offers performances statewide
DOVER (June 25, 2012) – Five days a week this summer, music lovers can go to one of five different state parks for free concerts. Delaware State Parks’ Summer Concert Series presents a wide variety of family-friendly outdoor performances at Bellevue State Park, Killens Pond State Park, Wilmington State Park, Trap Pond State Park and White Clay Creek State Park. The concert series continues weekly until Labor Day, and all concerts begin at 6:30 p.m.
Bellevue State Park offers concerts on Sundays and Thursdays at the Bandshell through Aug. 26. Upcoming concerts include Almost Fab (Beatles Tribute Band) on June 24, Seven Rings (Irish Pub Songs, Tunes, Ballads) on June 28 and The Johnny Cash Experience (Johnny Cash Tribute Band) on July 1. Killens Pond State Park holds concerts every Friday through Aug. 17 at the Sports Complex Area. Next of Kin (Southern Rock) will be performing on June 22, the 287th Army Band (Brass, Woodwind Quintets) will be playing on June 29 and Dean Sapp and the Harford Express (Bluegrass) will be performing on July 6. Wilmington State Parks hosts concerts every Monday through Aug. 13 at the Rockford Tower. Upcoming concerts include Celtic Harvest (Celtic, Irish Folk) on June 25 and Chapel Street Junction (Country/Bluegrass) on July 2. Call 302-222-7436 for more information.
Trap Pond State Park offers concerts on Fridays through August 31at the Baldcypress Nature Center. The Milford Community Band (Brass) will perform on June 22, Double Tap (Country) will be playing on June 29 and Rob E. Lutz (Elvis) will perform on July 6. White Clay Creek State Park hosts concerts at the Carpenter Recreation Area every Wednesday through Sept. 3. Upcoming concerts include Barbone Street Jazz (New Orleans Jazz, Swing) on June 27 and the Philly Party Band (Party Music) on July 4. Refreshments will be sold by the Friends of White Clay Creek.
