FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Governor’s Energy Advisory Council Seeks Public Input by May 31 on Delaware’s Important Energy Issues
Delawareans are encouraged to provide input on a new Five-Year Energy Plan by taking an Energy Issues Survey developed by the Governor’s Energy Advisory Council. During the month of May, Delaware residents can log on to access the Energy Issues Survey on the following websites:
www.energy.dnrec.delaware.gov
www.dnrec.delaware.gov
Examples of energy issues included on the survey are energy efficiency, transportation energy costs, climate change, land use issues, greenhouse gas emissions, agricultural energy use, energy technology-based economic development and more.
The Governor's Energy Advisory Council requests that the survey be completed by May 31.
The Governor’s Energy Advisory Council (GEAC) has been tasked with updating Delaware’s Energy Plan. The GEAC will meet during the next seven months to complete the energy planning process. The guiding principles for this effort include:
Increasing energy and end-use efficiency and conservation
Reducing the environmental impacts of energy used and generated in Delaware
Reducing energy used for transportation
Maximizing clean energy economic development opportunities
Maintaining and improving the reliability and security of Delaware’s energy systems
Minimizing energy-related costs and impacts on Delaware citizens
Delaware residents who do not have access to the internet can visit any Delaware library to log on to the site. The Delaware Division of Libraries sponsors the Community Resources Exchange initiative and encourages Delawareans to visit their local library, take the Energy Issues Survey, learn more about library programs and check out a new book.
