Hearing Set for April 30 on Permit to Construct Pier Extension, Dock and Additional Improvements at Herring Landing, Angola Neck near Lewes
DNREC’s Wetlands and Subaqueous Lands Section will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 30 on the permit to construct a pier extension, dock and make additional improvements at Lot 33, Herring Landing, Angola Neck, Lewes. The hearing will be held at the Beacon Middle School, 19483 John J. Williams Highway (Route 24), Lewes.
The purpose of the hearing is to solicit views and testimony on the subaqueous lands permit application filed by Robert Tunnell, Jr. to construct a 4 foot by 80 foot pier extension, a 5 foot by 30 foot dock, a 4 foot by 30 foot finger pier and 2 mooring pilings. In addition, the permit includes the following: relocate two boat lifts; remove of a 5 foot by 20 foot dock; repair or replace 190 linear feet of bulkhead and place stone reinforcement in front of the bulkhead; install 350 linear feet of low profile stone revetment in front of the tidal wetlands; and construct a series of 4 detached breakwaters to protect approximately 250 linear feet of shoreline at Lot 33, Herring Landing.
Statements and testimony can be presented orally or in writing at the public hearing. Interested parties should register in advance by mail. Written statements can be submitted prior to the hearing and should be sent to Denise Rawding, Wetlands and Subaqueous Lands Section, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, Del. 19901.
The application and supporting documents can be inspected anytime, 8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, at DNREC’s offices, Division of Water Resources, Wetlands and Subaqueous Lands Section, 89 Kings Highway, Dover.
