                   Hearing Set for August 20 on Proposed Amendments 
                                to Delaware’s Solid Waste Regulations

DNREC’s Solid and Hazardous Waste Section will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 on proposed amendments to Delaware’s Regulations Governing Solid Waste. The hearing will be held at DNREC’s Richardson and Robbins Building, 89 Kings Highway in Dover.

The hearing will address four proposed amendments that will update the state’s solid waste regulations and help improve regulatory understanding and implementation. The proposed amendments: 1) remove one redundant requirement for siting new industrial landfill cells; 2) update an exclusion for temporary debris from the Delaware Emergency Management Agency at transfer stations; 3) update and clarify financial assurance criteria; and 4) clarify one exception for all transporters.

The proposed amendments are posted on DNREC’s web site: http://www.dnrec.delaware.gov/Info/Pages/Rules.aspx or can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at the following DNREC locations: 89 Kings Highway, Dover (302-739-9403); 715 Grantham Lane, New Castle (302-323-4560); 391 Lukens Drive, New Castle (302- 295-2600); and 408 N. DuPont Highway, Georgetown (302- 856-5488).

Statements and testimony can be presented orally or in writing at the hearing.
