Hearing Set for May 6 on Division of Soil and Water Conservation
Permit Application for Maintenance Work
on State Regulated Wetlands in Kitts Hummock
DNREC’s Wetlands and Subaqueous Lands Section will hold a public hearing at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 on a permit application filed by the Division of Soil and Water Conservation to maintenance dredge a drainage ditch on state regulated wetlands in Kitts Hummock that will help alleviate flooding in the area. The meeting will be held in DNREC’s auditorium, Richardson and Robbins building, 89 Kings Highway, Dover.
The purpose of the hearing is to solicit comments on the Division of Soil and Water Conservation permit application to excavate 100 cubic yards of accumulated sediment from 2,650 linear feet of ditch and to side cast the materials over 106,000 square feet of state regulated wetlands in Kitts Hummock. In addition the permit requests to install 40 cubic yards of stone rip-rap to stabilize an existing tide gate along the west side of South Bay Drive.
The application and supporting documents can be inspected 8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday at DNREC’s Division of Water Resources, Wetlands and Subaqueous Lands Section office, 89 Kings Highway, Dover.
