Holiday family programs at Cape Henlopen State Park
LEWES (Dec.18, 2012) – Families are invited to Cape Henlopen State Park’s Seaside Nature Center for some fun, educational programs about the environment this holiday season.
On Thursday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m., the park offers hands-on fun, making eco-friendly bird “feeders.” On Dec. 28 at 11 a.m., visitors will learn about some of the wild creatures still active in the park during the winter. And, on Dec. 29 at 11 a.m., park staff will explain what makes a fish a fish.
Each of these three programs has a fee of $2 per person and pre-registration is required by calling 302-645-6852.
Each day at 2 p.m. from Dec. 27 - 29, a naturalist will present cool fish facts while feeding the fish at the Nature Center. The annual First Day Hike takes place at the Point beginning at 11 a.m. on Jan. 1. Hikers should meet at the Point parking lot.
The Seaside Nature Center is open Wednesday – Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the borrow-a-bike program is available Wednesday – Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.
