Informational meetings set Tuesday, Oct. 16
for New Castle County floodplain map updates
DOVER (Oct. 15, 2012) – DNREC and the New Castle County Department of Land Use will hold two informational meetings Tuesday, Oct. 16 to discuss proposed changes to floodplain maps in Northern New Castle County. The proposed changes are related to updated flood engineering and topographic data that allows more accurate depiction of high-risk flood areas.
The floodplain map update meetings will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. and from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room of New Castle County’s Gilliam Building, 77 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.
The proposed floodplain map changes are in the Red Clay Creek, White Clay Creek, Mill Creek, Belltown Run watersheds. Representatives from New Castle County, DNREC, and other project partners will be present to answer questions related to the revised maps and floodplain studies. Interested persons and land and homeowners within the affected watersheds are encouraged to attend.
