Killens Pond State Park’s popular summer day camps filling fast

The popular summer day camp series at Killens Pond State Park has a few openings left in full-day camps for children ages 6 to 14.  The camps are held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Before-care, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., and after-care, from 4 to 5 p.m., are available for an additional fee.

Each camp runs from Monday through Friday, and is based on a particular theme for the week.  Many camps include trips to other park locations and attractions throughout the state to explore rivers, lakes, a zoo, Abbotts Mill Nature Center and defense installations.  Hiking, boating and rock climbing are just a few of the outdoor adventures found in several of the camps.

“Into the Wild,” for ages 8 to 12 includes lessons in survival skills, plus an overnight stay.  Young people considering a career in the outdoors will enjoy “Outdoor Enthusiasts.”  The very popular “Fishing Camp” is sold out, but names are now being placed on a waiting list.

More information and registration is available by calling the Killens Pond Nature Center at 302-284-4299 or visiting www.destateparks.com.  Killens Pond State Park is located at 5025 Killens Pond Road, just off of Route 13 in Felton, Delaware.
