Killens Pond celebrates Fun in the Outdoors on Nov. 14
FELTON – It may be November, but the staff at Killens Pond State Park invites individuals and families to the park for a day of Fun in the Outdoors onSaturday, Nov. 14. The fun begins with a lesson in outdoor cooking at 2 p.m., followed by a paddling trip around the pond at 3:30 p.m. Visitors should bundle up for a chilly fall hayride through the park at 5:30 p.m. and night hike at 6:30 p.m., and be sure to bring enough water and snacks for the day.
Park staff encourages everyone to return to the park on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. to participate in a Celebration of Thanks in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday. The program will begin in the Nature Center with a traditional Native American craft-making activity and is followed by a relaxing hayride through the park and a cup of hot spiced cider. Visitors should pack a snack or lunch and bring a blanket.
The program fee for each day is $5 per person, or $15 for those who wish to take part in the paddling trip on Nov. 14. Separate park entry fees are in effect. Participants should meet at the new Killens Pond Nature Center.
