Lewes man arrested for reckless boating, felony endangering
DNREC Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Agents on July 5 arrested a Lewes man in connection with an incident on Herring Creek off Rehoboth Bay in which the man was allegedly operating a boat which struck a navigation marker and another vessel and then left the scene of the accident.
Bryan K. McCall, age 41, of 34137 Oak Drive, Lewes, was arrested on July 5 and charged with felony first degree reckless endangering by creating a substantial risk of death to another; criminal mischief less than $1,500; two counts of excessive vessel speed/failure to proceed at reasonable speed to avoid collision; inattentive operation of vessel/failure to maintain proper lookout; negligent operation of vessel; no type 4 personal floatation device aboard (a required throwable floatation device); no fire extinguisher aboard; required navigation lights not on at time of incident; invalid registration.
McCall was taken to Justice of the Peace Court No. 3 in Georgetown and released on $3,700 unsecured bond, with arraignment in the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas scheduled for Thursday, July 9.
