Lums Pond State Park to host Halloween Hoot
BEAR ( Oct. 22, 2012) – Lums Pond State Park will host the annual Halloween Hoot on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 2 to 7p.m. The public is welcome to this family-friendly program held at the campground. Campers are admitted free of charge; all others pay a $3 program fee.
This event promises no tricks…just treats. From 2 to 5 p.m., children will enjoy face-painting, pumpkin-painting, crafts, games and music. Afterward, visitors can wind down with a relaxing hayride to see all of the campsites decorated for Halloween. Food will be available throughout the day, and the evening will feature a costume parade, storyteller and a campfire.
Prizes will be awarded for the best-decorated campsite and best-dressed dog. Families can stay the night in the campground (if they dare), or come and enjoy the day.
Lums Pond State Park, located at 1068 Howell School Road in Bear, is built around the largest freshwater pond in Delaware. The park features excellent fishing, sports facilities, boat rentals, hiking trails and more on its 1790 acres on the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.
