Millsboro man arrested for crabbing violations on Delaware’s Inland Bays
DOVER (May 16, 2011) – DNREC Fish & Wildlife Enforcement officers arrested a Millsboro man May 13 and charged him with committing an assortment of crabbing violations on Delaware’s Inland Bays. James H. Crossland, 58, of 31086 River Road, Millsboro, was charged with not having a commercial crabbing license, selling crabs from a non-commercial area, and a third-degree conspiracy charge of selling them to a third party.
At the time of his arrest, several items were seized from the accused, including an 18-foot fishing vessel, crabbing and cooking equipment including several large coolers, propane tanks, and a freezer, and 75 pounds of crab seasoning.
Mr. Crossland was released on $2,000 bond, and given a June 13 date at the Court of Common Pleas, Georgetown.
Fish & Wildlife Enforcement reminds citizens that no commercial crabbing is permitted within Delaware’s Inland Bays – and that any suspicious activity on the water should be reported by calling 302-739-4580.
